How does buying your pet food monthly benefit the environment?

How does buying your pet food monthly benefit the environment?

When we look at a corporation like Mars Inc Worldwide, who own brands like Iams, Royal Canin, Pedigree and Whiskas, trying to establish where our pet products are made becomes difficult. We’re met with packaging stating ‘Made in the EU’ or websites that tell us their head offices are in the US. But we are unable to confirm the distance our products travel to our local shop.

Unable to track the origin of their products manufacturer, we can only make the assumption that it has been transported across countries via air, sea or track. This will be to distributor warehouses. From here a distributor will transport products to a centralised location to then be delivered to your local retailer or supermarket. You then have to travel to these locations to buy your products and home again.
This makes sense as to why more than 60% of Greenhouse Gas Emissions are caused by consumer habits.

The world’s population is becoming increasingly conscious about the effects their buying habits have on our environment.
Research shows 72% of consumers were actively buying more environmentally friendly products than they did five years ago, while 81% said they expected to buy even more over the next five years.
However, 89% said they cared the most about the quality of a product over environmental responsibility.

We don’t want you to have to compromise on quality or the environment with your pets!

We’re implementing the best solutions to bring you everything you need in the most environmentally conscious way. There’s no compromise on quality and a reduction in using unnecessary resources.

The concept of ‘environmental purchasing’ refers to considering environmental responsibility as a factor when making the decision to purchase an item.

These factors include:

- The manufacturing process - Giving preference to items that are highly recyclable
- Considering the energy usage of an item before purchase - Favouring suppliers who are committed to improving the environment

Not only are these highly important to us and to share with our customers but we also reflect this with the orders we send.

Our products travel less distance than to local retailers, we use 100% recyclable packaging materials, support British brands and the subscription offer reduces our carbon emissions, therefore your carbon footprint!

Here’s how:

Having the option to buy your essentials monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly reduces how often you’re purchasing these items.

The different timing options allow you to choose what’s best suited for you. As well as the availability to buy larger quantities, that you may not choose to do currently. This means less frequent purchasing, saving you money and unneeded miles for your pet’s products!

We support and sell British brands, so your products' normal journey is shortened by 50%. No centralised locations to retailers, for you to then have to go and get your products. From manufacturer, to us, straight to your door.

The other benefits include reducing waste as products won’t be packaged multiple times. The support encourages industry change, so more companies will consider becoming more environmentally responsible and consequently reducing your carbon footprint as less pollution is caused from your purchases.

Our subscription service not only takes away your responsibility of having to remember ordering your pet products, but with better choices and better quality we’re working to achieve a better planet.
